Hey everyone! I hope all of you have had a great week so far! There are a few sports topics that have happened over the last week, pretty much all of them being Basketball (OMG TH1RT33N, I’M SO SURPRISED). So, sit back, grab some popcorn, or a Klondike Bar and hopefully you’ll enjoy!
The first topic I would like to write about today is about two of the rising stars in high school basketball. Zion Williamson and LaMelo Ball. Last night LaMelo Ball’s AAU team coached by his father, LaVar, faced up against Zion Williamson’s SC Supreme Squad. Players like Damian Lillard, Lonzo Ball and Andrew Wiggins even showed up to the game! The website ballislife.com had over 820,000 views on its stream of the game. Apparently, LeBron was told that he couldn’t come in because the gym was so packed. In the end SC Supreme came out on top with a 104-92 victory over the big ballers. Melo finished with 36 points, 9 assists, and 6 boards, while Zion put up 31 points and 8 boards. If you want to watch the highlights of the game click on the face here —–> -_-
Secondly, I am going to be discussing the Cleveland Cavaliers. If you follow basketball (which you probably do if you are reading this) you know that Kyrie Irving has asked for a trade. I mean I understand why he wants to be traded because I have heard that he wants to move to a franchise that he can be a star player. It would be nice to go to a team that you are the go-to-guy for and you can also get a lot of minutes and stuff like that. However, at Cleveland he is already starting, getting a lot of minutes and on a championship contender of a team. I like Kyrie and the way he plays but at the end of the day it is going to be down to him and what he thinks is better for his future in the NBA. I just hope it all works out for him.
Another thing about the Cavs that I think is worth mentioning is the signing of former league MVP Derrick Rose. I think this is a great pickup for the Cavs. THIS IS DERRICK ROSE WE TALKIN’ ‘BOUT. I really think that D-Rose has real potential to be a good player for Cleveland. Yes, it will be very hard to be like he was on the Bulls but he can be a valuable asset to the Cavs. If Kyrie stays the Cavs have an awesome team for next year with the likes of: LeBron (obviously), Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, J.R. Smith, D-rose and a lot of other good role players who come off the bench.
My last two topics are going to be about football/soccer. Last night the USA national football/soccer team won the CONCACAF Gold Cup against Jamaica. Both teams couldn’t put the ball in the net until right at the end of the first half. The starting goal keeper for Jamaica had to come off from a hand injury before the 30-minute mark. Dwayne Miller, the backup keeper, came in and it wasn’t long before he had to face a free kick from Jozy Altidore. Jozy put it over the wall and into the top left corner, a textbook free kick. However, it wasn’t long till the Jamaicans equalized from a corner, Je-Vaugh Watson volleying it in. But the decisive goal came from the US in the 88th minute. Jordan Morris scored in the most crucial moment to put the United states ahead and to win them the Gold Cup. Also, I would like to congratulate the US Mens National team on winning last night!
Finally, I would like to write about one more quick thing. They are making a USL Division 3! I think that is awesome because you can get small towns to have a football/soccerteam and the whole town can get together. I honestly just like that.
Next week’s blog will probably be sports news or maybe fantasy sports.
Thank you very much for reading and make sure to look out for my next blogs.
